Frequently Asked Questions
Are donations tax deductible?
Yes. All gifts greater than $2 are tax deductible.
The Western Cancer Centre is registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission as an item 1 Deductible Gift Recipient status endorsed company for tax deductibility with the Australian Taxation Office.
How do you use the donated money?
In 2021 we used most of the donated money to create the Wellness Centre within the Western Cancer Centre, an area to which patients and their families are able to retreat as a break from treatment, to engage with allied health or complimentary health professionals, and to focus on survivorship outside the cancer diagnosis.
Since those early days there have been several major improvements to the Wellness Centre and the Western Cancer Centre itself. Fundraising continues to contribute to the Wellness Centre, but also help with bringing cancer care closer to home in communities outside Dubbo, increasing the availability of clinical trials in the district, and promoting activities which improve the quality of life for those living with cancer and their loved ones.

Are you affiliated with the Western NSW local health district?
No. We are a separate entity to the government-run Western NSW local health district, the Dubbo Hospital and the Western Cancer Centre, but we liaise closely with the local health district to ensure we are fundraising for programs or items that are relevant to cancer care and will be appropriately used. Our Foundation will not be used to fill funding gaps for basic care which should be provided by government, but will always be used to extend that care for our community.
